How much does a Private Pilot License cost?
- The cost of the private pilot license depends on many factors. The airplane you choose to learn to fly in, this alone can change your cost up to $3,000. The total cost estimate ranges from $15,000 to $18,000, this is one of the (many) reasons.
- How many instruction hours you require. Studying ahead and completing your homework will help you keep the cost down but there is no doubt, the most talented students will tend to complete their training quicker.
- How well you study and how talented you are (and therefore how many instruction hours you require). Joining a good flight school can help you finish your training in budget and on time.
- We use flight simulators extensively to reduce your flight training cost overall.- The time frame is a factor as well (learning to fly in a shorter time span is more effective and thus more efficient financially).
Please keep in mind your progress and completion time (and therefore your training cost) much depends on your talent, enthusiasm and your study habits.
The FAA computer multiple choice testing fee currently is $175, paid directly to the test center. You will prepare for this exam using our online video based ground school. The test consists of 60 questions and you will have plenty of time to complete it.
Never too early to find out that the actual final FAA flight test fee is currently $1000. Paid directly to your friendly FAA examiner. Your flight instructor will prepare you for this exam which consists of a ground (oral) and flight portion.
You can start to learn to fly with us anytime. Flight training is paid as you go, there is no need for advance payments. Once you have established a set schedule we will help you make a plan to complete the training efficiently.
Our online video training package is $299 including the online ground school and online test prep software. Misc. equipment, manuals and charts about another $150. We recommend getting this kit right away and start preparing for your lessons.
In case you are not a US citizen, the US government agency TSA requires additional processing. Please let us know if this applies and we can help you with this.
Any time during daylight hours, any day, weekends, holidays. We are very flexible and you can arrange a schedule to suit your requirements. If you consider accelerating your training schedule to several times per week or even every day, you need to accelerate your study effort accordingly.
How do I get a commercial pilot certificate?

Step 1 : Get a Private Pilot Certificate
Step 2 : Get an Instrument Rating
240 Hours Total Flight Time (to reach 250 during the program)
100 Hours PIC (pilot in command). Flight Time, which includes at least: 50 hours in airplanes, 50 hours in cross-country flight of which 10 hours must be in airplanes.
